On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross
The emblem of suffering and shame
Circle left and I love that old cross
Where the dearest and best swing
And promenade for a world of lost sinners was slain

Heads (sides) promenade go halfway around
Come down the middle and square thru 4
Go all the way and do a right and left thru
Now veer to the left and ferris wheel
And go centers square thru 3 to the corner lady swing
And promenade and exchange it someday for a crown

Oh, that old rugged cross
So despised by the world
Has a wondrous attraction for me circle left-
For the dear lamb of God left his glory above
Swing and promenade to bear it to dark calvary
